Actress and “kontrabida” icon Gladys Reyes said motherhood has made her conscious of accepting roles for TV and film.
“Lalo na ngayon na nanay ako ng aking tatlong mga anak, [mas conscious na ako sa mga roles na ginagawa ko],” she said in an interview with Boy Abunda on ABS-CBN’s “Bandila.”
This is why Reyes is proud of her latest role in new TV series “Wako Wako,” where she plays a protagonist for the first time.
“Pinagmamalaki ko ‘to lalo na sa mga anak ko, [for the] first time mapapanood nila ako na hindi ako kontrabida. Ako si Isay, isang ina at asawa,” she said.
Real-life role
Reyes’ new role as Isay is not far from her real-life role as wife to actor Christopher Roxas and mother to her three children.
On being a parent, Reyes said it is important to play an active role in the learning of her children at home, especially where assimilating information from media is concerned.
This is why she is supportive the new “Strong Parental Guidance” rating implemented by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), of which she is a board member.
