“Alam mo yung matutulog ka nalang tapos lilingon ka sa kanan mo, ta’s biglang makikita mo yung asawa mo? Walang katumbas ‘yon,” Ogie said in an interview with Karen Davila and Vic Lima on dzMM Friday.
Regine could only laugh in giddiness at her husband’s honest sharing – and this apparently was but a peek of what it’s like to be Mrs. Alcasid. “I laugh every minute of everyday,” Regine said. “[Humor] for me is very sexy.”
Although Ogie is the better comedian of the two, there are times when Regine makes him laugh, too, although unintentionally. “She makes me laugh, too,” Ogie said. “Kasi yung aawayin na niya ako, natatawa ako sa kanya.”
The couple acknowledged, however, that marriage isn’t all laughter and bliss.
“Marriage is not easy. Wala namang ‘Marriage 101’ eh,” Ogie said. This is why the couple makes it a point to attend weekly bible study sessions.
“Every week meron kaming group bible study. It’s for couples, minsan 10 couples, then our pastors share with us scriptures and life [experiences],” Ogie shared. “Ang-galing, I thought I had it, na alam ko na, [pero hindi pala].
"If you do not arm yourself with God, masisira ka talaga. We’re only human eh. Maraming darating na pagsubok, hindi 'yan mawawala.”
On the public’s expectations and perception of public romances such as theirs, Regine recounted the difficulties of having a budding relationship in showbiz.
“Before we reached itong time na ‘to, it took – ang-daming luha, ang-daming pagsubok, ta’s ngayon pa kami gi-give up? Sayang naman.”
For Ogie, the pressure of staying together really only comes from their commitment to each other.
“My commitment to her is to make the marriage work and to be the husband I ought to be. So if I can perfect myself everyday for her, ‘yon yung pressure siguro,” Ogie said.
