Isa pa ring rebelasyon sa serye si Dingdong Dantes na pagkatapos ng kanyang anti-hero role sa Segunda Mano ay parang nire-require na ang kanyang sarili na magbigay pa ng higit sa makakaya niya. At wagi siya sa kanyang pagganap bilang Benjie sa pinagsasamahan nilang serye ni Marian.

Jessica Sanchez reclaims top spot on 'Idol' ranking!s!

Filipino-Mexican-American contestant Jessica Sanchez has reclaimed the top spot on the “American Idol” rankings of a popular US magazine on Wednesday.

In its Top 7 Power Rankings published on its website, Entertainment Weekly magazine placed Sanchez at No. 1 after she slipped to No. 2 last week.

The article said Sanchez seems to be really determined to win the competition. “I THINK THIS GIRL WANTS IT TOO, RYAN!” it said in all caps.

Sanchez performed "How Will I Know" during the '80s week on “Idol.” This is the second time Sanchez picked a Whitney Houston song. She earlier sang her hit, "I Will Always Love You," which earned her a standing ovation.

Although she didn't get the judges up from their seats this time around, Sanchez still received positive comments for "How Will I Know."

She, however, earned another standing ovation from “Idol” judges with her duet with fellow contestant Joshua Ledet.

They performed "I Knew You Were Waiting For Me," originally sung by Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin and George Michael.

Meanwhile, at Entertainment Weekly’s No. 2 is Colton Dixon, who made a big leap from No. 5 last week.

Placing third is Ledet, who also went up from No. 4 last week. Skylar Laine was at No. 4 while Phillip Phillips, who previously held the top rank slipped to No. 5. He was followed by Elise Testone and Hollie Cavanagh, who is at the bottom.

For this week, the “Idol” contestants will perform songs from this decade – 2010, 2011 and 2012 -- with mentor Akon.

According to Entertainment Weekly, this should be a chance for Sanchez to “connect” on a current song of which she is "a legitimate fan."

After PBB, Joseph Emil Biggel wants to become a cop!

“Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited” (PBB) third placer Joseph Biggel is intent on finishing his criminology studies in the hopes of becoming a policeman someday.

On Day 151 of PBB, Biggel received a scholarship from the Philippine College of Criminology after he and his housemates accomplished a weekly task inside the Big Brother house.

While showbiz beckons, Biggel said he will prioritize his studies, but will not close doors to acting.

“Kaya ko naman po pagsabayin ang pag-aaral at showbiz. Kakayanin ko po,” he said on Wednesday during a press conference for the PBB Unlimited’s Big 4.

Biggel shared his great respect for policemen, saying he was inspired by them to tackle the challenges head on inside the famous house.

“Idol ko po talaga ang mga pulis. Ang taas po ng tingin ko sa kanila. Sila po ‘yung naging inspirasyon sa mga hamon ni Kuya (Big Brother), na kailangan ko maging matatag kasi magiging pulis ako, kasi 'pag pulis ka dapat matatag ka,” Biggel said.

On why he idolizes policemen, Biggel said that though there are ethically questionable officers, there are a great number who would sacrifice their life for the benefit of others.

“May mga pulis naman po na alam ko po sa puso ko na matitino, na handa ibuwis ang kanilang buhay para sa ating bayan – ‘yun po yung rason kung bakit iniidolo ko sila,” he said. “Kahit mabaril, kahit anumang oras, basta importante mapanatili pong mapayapa ang paligid.”

Aside from him accomplishments inside the PBB house, Biggel is intent on accomplishing a far larger “task.”

“[Gusto ko makapagtapos] para po balang araw ay may maipagmalaki rin po ako sa sarili ko, na ako si Biggel – pulis na may pinag-aralan, may nakamit sa buhay, nakapagtapos.”

ABS-CBN panalo sa national at primetime TV ratings!

Kasing-init ng summer ang pagtanggap ng mga Pilipino sa ABS-CBN sa kani-kanilang mga tahanan matapos manguna ang Kapamilya Network sa national TV ratings noong Marso at patuloy na namamayagpag sa primetime, kabilang na sa Mega at Metro Manila.

Base sa pinakahuling datos ng pinagkakatiwalaang Kantar Media na kilala sa pananaliksik sa manonood ng TV sa iba’t ibang bansa, mas mara­ming Pilipino ang nakatutok sa ABS-CBN buong araw sa averageaudience share na 36% na mas mataas sa GMA na may 34%.

Pinakamaraming nanonood sa Dos tuwing prime­­time (6 p.m. – 12 m.n.) matapos itong magtamo ng national primetime audience share na 44% o 15 puntos ang lamang sa primetime block ng GMA. Lalo pang lumalakas ang pagtangkilik ng publiko sa Primetime Bida dahil tumaas ang audience share nito mula 41.4% noong Pebrero.

Maging sa sinasabing balwarte ng kalabang network na Mega at Metro Manila ay panalo ang ABS-CBN pagdating sa primetime lalo pa’t sa oras na ito mas maraming nanonood ng telebisyon at mas maraming advertisers ang naglalagay ng kanilang patalastas. Nakapagtala ang ABS-CBN na 36% audience share kontra 34% ng GMA sa Mega Manila habang 38% naman ang audience share nito sa Metro Manila kumpara sa 32% ng GMA.

Sa lahat ng programa sa primetime, Walang Hanggan ang pinaka-namama­yagpag sa buong bansa sa national TV rating na 35.2% kumpara sa kalabang My Beloved na may 16%. Maging sa Mega Manila at Metro Manila, pinaka-pinapanood ang serye nina Coco Martin at Julis Montes sa rating na 29.3% vs 20.2% sa Mega at 31.5% vs 19% naman sa Metro.

Nananatili ring numero uno ang ABS-CBN sa iba pang rehiyon sa bansa kabilang na ang Balance Luzon kung saan wagi ito sa audience share na 39% laban sa 35% ng GMA; sa Visayas na may 48% audien­ce share kontra 23%; at sa Mindanao kung saan nanlamon ang ABS-CBN sa audience share na 54% laban sa 16% lang ng Kapuso.

Iniulat din ng Kantar Me­­dia na siyam sa Top 10 na pinaka-pinapanood na prog­rama sa bansa ay mula sa ABS-CBN habang nakuha naman ng isang blocktimer na nagpapalabas ng kanilang prog­rama sa GMA ang ika-sampung puwesto.

Wala pa ring makatalo sa nangungunang te­­­le­­serye sa bansa na Walang Hanggan sa ave­­rage national TV rating na 35.2%. Sinundan naman ito ng iba pang Primetime Bida soaps na Budoy (29%), E-Boy(28.9%), at Dahil sa Pag-ibig (27.8%).


Nangunguna naman ang MMK (28%) pagsapit ng weekend na sinusundan ngWansapanataym (23.8%), habang nananatiling numero unong newscast angTV Patrol sa average national TV rating na 25.2%. Pagdating naman sa cur­rent affairs programs, Rated K ang nangunguna sa rating na 22.4%.

Ang bagong programa ni Sarah Geronimo na Sarah G. Live ay agad na pumasok sa ika-siyam na puwesto sa average national TV rating na 21.4%.

Patuloy namang lumalakas ang late afternoon block (3PM to 6 PM) ng ABS-CBN matapos tumaas ang average national audience share nito mula 29.1% noong Enero 2012 hangagng 34% noong nakaraang Marso 2012.

Maging sa radyo ay nanguna ang AM station ng ABS-CBN noong Pebrero sa Mega Manila sa audience share na 42.1%, mas mataas ng 14.4 putos kaysa sa 27.7% ng DZBB ng GMA base sa datos ng Nielsen Mega Manila RAM.

Kasalukuyang naka-subscribe sa ratings services ng Kantar Media, isang multinational market re­search group na nagsasagawa ng audience measurement surveys sa mahigit 80 bansa, ang 22 TV networks, ad agencies, at pan-regional net­works.

Angelica Panganiban open to working with Gretchen Barretto anew!

After a two-year break from soap operas, actress Angelica Panganiban said she is both excited and scared to shoot a TV series anew.

“Two years na ako hindi gumagawa ng soap, so medyo nakaka-excite na nakakatakot. Hindi ko alam kung ready na ako ulit mapagod nang ganoon. Iba ‘yung feeling [na] parang gusto mo ulit gawin,” she told ABS-CBN News.

Panganiban is set to star in her comeback soap with the working title “Mariposang Dagat,” which is rumored to also star actress Gretchen Barretto, who once had a feud with the young actress.

Following the cancellation of “Alta,” her planned TV project with Barretto, Panganiban said she welcomes the prospect of working with her former enemy.

Panganiban, whose last lead role in a soap opera was "Rubi," said she has yet to hear confirmation of Barretto also being part of “Mariposang Dagat” but added that she would have no problem with it.

“Hindi pa naman nasabi na kasama ko siya. Kung kasama siya, wala namang problema,” Panganiban said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

Although it has been two years since she last appeared in a primetime soap, Panganiban has been busy hosting the comedy-variety show “Banana Split.”

She has also been working on several movies for Star Cinema.

Her latest project, “Every Breath U Take,” which pairs her with actor Piolo Pascual, will be released on May 16.

On her leading man for the film, Panganiban said she already feels comfortable after having starred in several projects together.

“Excited [na ako sa pelikula namin ni Piolo], sobra. Nakakatuwa naman, at masaya syempre. Ang-tagal namin ginawa ‘yung movie, so in a way nakakalungkot din kasi sobrang bonded na kaming lahat, tapos parang patapos na,” she said. “Syempre si Piolo, kasi ilang beses ko na nakatrabaho, medyo mas comfotrable na ako.”

Panganiban is currently shooting another movie for talent management firm Star Magic's 20th anniversary, this time with John Lloyd Cruz.

Panganiban and Cruz previously starred together in the TV series “Maging Sino Ka Man” in 2007.

“Sa movie, iba [katrabo si John Lloyd] eh. Sabi ko nga, grabe nakaka-excite sa trabaho. Ang sarap,” Panganiban said. “[Na-discover ko] kung gaano siya ka-professional, sobra, para siyang ‘di napapagod, parang automatic siya. Grabe ang passion niya sa trabaho.”

Derek Ramsay thanks ABS-CBN!

Actor Derek Ramsay on Tuesday thanked his former network ABS-CBN after his move to TV5 was officially announced to the media earlier in the day.

“I’d like to thank ABS for everything you’ve done. You are a big part of who I am today and I’m very appreciative of that. Thanks and best wishes,” Ramsay said in his official Twitter account.

On Tuesday, the actor signed an exclusive, three-year contract with the No. 3 network.

No figures were announced, although sources from TV5 and ABS-CBN said before Tuesday’s announcement that the contract was worth P500 million for five years.

Ramsay’s transfer to the Manuel V. Pangilinan-led network was first confirmed by ABS-CBN in a statement on April 2.

“For months, ABS-CBN has exerted efforts to make him stay as a Kapamilya. TV5, however, offered him an amount that was difficult for him to refuse,” Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications, said in the statement.

“Nakita kong paano siya kumanta kaya nga nasa ASAP na siya,” dagdag ni Boss Vic na pinaka-in demand na manager sa kasalukuyan bilang galing sa kanilang kumpanya ang malalaking artista sa kasalukuyan tulad nina Sarah Geronimo, Anne Curtis, at marami pang iba.

Kaya naman agad siyang binigyan ng solo album ng Viva na magkakaroon ng launching next week.

Karamihan sa 10 kantang kasama sa kanyang self titled album ay original. Kasama sa mga nagsulat ng mga kanta sina Vehnne Saturno at ang hitmaker na si Christian Martinez.

Direk Wenn's comedic genius at work in Moron 5 and a Crying Lady!

Only box-office director and comedic genius Wenn Deramas could cook up a movie like this.

In Moron 5 and a Crying Lady, co-produced by Viva Films and MVP Pictures, direk Wenn is back in tip-top form, putting in harness his creative (yes, wacky!) mind that has produced blockbuster comedies like Petrang Kabayo and Praybeyt Benjamin.

Despite its title (that might be inspired by the popular band whose name sounds like it), the movie is hardly a musical.

Scripted by Mel del Rosario, Moron 5 and a Crying Lady is about five half-witted friends happily going with the flow of life until they are wrongly accused of killing the father of a Crying Lady.

Playing the Moron 5 are Luis Manzano, Billy Crawford, Marvin Agustin, Martin Escudero and DJ Durano, with John “Sweet” Lapus as the Crying Lady.

The five friends are aptly named: Luis plays Albert (Einstein?), Billy is Isaac (Newton?), Marvin is Aristotle (you know who), Martin is Michaelangelo (yes, “the one”) and DJ is Mozart (who else but “him”!).

Moron 5 is the first movie together of buddies Luis and Billy who have proven their mettle as TV hosts (Pilipinas Got Talent, etc.) and, they agreed, “We had fun from the start of the shoot to the finish.” It’s Billy’s first time to act in a comedy film and, although he’s more known as a singer, he said he realized that he could be a good actor. He’s set to leave for Europe to resume his rudely-interrupted career as a pop star there and might be back in July.

Luis has worked with direk Wenn, perhaps the only director who succeeded in making Luis bare his butt (in Who’s That Girl, with Anne Curtis as leading lady).

“This movie can draw more laughs than my previous movies ever did,” said direk Wenn.

In one scene, the Moron 5 does a macho dance. In another, during their escape from prison, they disguise themselves as Madame Auring (Billy), a Bombay 5-6 lender (Marvin), an old driver (Luis), a taho vendor (DJ) and a BB Gandanghari-type (Martin).

Moron 5 and a Crying Lady is a great upper after the gloom of Lent, opening in more than 100 theaters nationwide on Black Saturday, April 7.

Sharon Cuneta hits Twitter bashers!

Nabulabog ang Twitter world nang umalma na si Megastar Sharon Cuneta sa mga negatibong komento laban sa kanya gamit ang nasabing microblogging site.

Mula pa noong nakaraang linggo ay wala nang tigil ang aktres sa pagdepensa sa mga panirang-puri laban sa kanya at sa anak na si KC Concepcion. Maliban sa pagyurak sa kanyang pagkatao, ikinagalit ni Sharon ang isyung "abortionista" sila ni KC.

“Akusahan kayo ng anak mong abortionista tapos huwag ko patulan? Ano hahayaan ko pang ikalat nila? Sobra mga ‘yan. Mga bastos at walang modo. Dudumi ng bibig at pagkatao. Gawain siguro nila,” ani Sharon.

Suspetsa ni Sharon, die-hard fans ng aktor na si Piolo Pascual, dating nobyo ni KC ang mga basher niya sa Twitter.

“Kung hindi Kapamilya die-hard, maka-Piolo lang. Wala namang galit sa amin na ibang tao,” sabi ni Mega sa isa niyang follower. Dahil sa sama ng loob, halos ibunyag na ni Sharon ang dahilan ng hiwalayan ni KC at Piolo. “Since you won't stop bashing me and my daughter and it's all the same to you -- maybe it's time I talk and tell the whole REAL story. Okay? Tutal pareho lang eh. Tahimik kami bash kayo ng bash. Eh di kami naman kaya!"

Eugene Domingo says 'Kimmy Dora 2' is halfway done!

Award-winning actress Eugene Domingo is thrilled with the progress of the shoot for the sequel of her smash hit movie "Kimmy Dora."

In an interview during the Gawad Tanglaw awarding ceremonies, Domingo said the filming for "Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kyeme," the second installment in her starrer series, is halfway done.

"Nangangalahati na kami, at nakapanood na kami ng kaunting mga rushes and we are very, very happy," she said. "We are very excited. It think it's worth the wait. Abangan po ninyo. Ang sarap gawin. Tamang tama ang pagbabalik."

Parts of "Kimmy Dora" were previously shot in Korea. Movie director Joyce Bernal had earlier said that the much-awaited sequel will be a horror-comedy film.

‘I Do Bidoo Bidoo’

Domingo is also excited for the mid-year release of musical film “I Do Bidoo Bidoo,” where she will star with singer Ogie Alcasid.

“Kwelang-kwela at kengkoy na kengkoy kami ni Ogie Alcasid. My God, he’s so talented. Hindi ko talaga masisisi si Songbird (Regine Velasquez-Alcasid) bakit siya nahumaling dun kay Ogie Alcasid eh,” she said.

“Talaga naman kay liit-liit na tao, ang husay-husay. At saka nakakatuwa kasama – isa ‘yun sa mga aabangan niyo sa ‘I Do Bidoo Bidoo’ from Unitel, ang musical movie featuring all the popular songs of Apo Hiking Society.”

Best actress

“I Do Bidoo Bidoo” won’t be Domingo’s first foray into doing a musical on the big screen. She previously sang in parts of critically acclaimed film “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank,” for which she won the best actress trophy from award-giving body Gawad Tanglaw.

“Ang lapit-lapit nila sa puso ko (Gawad Tanglaw), kasi dito po ako unang nabigyan ng medalya bilang best supporting actress sa pelikulang ‘Pisay’ at ‘Foster Child.’ Naka-tie ko yung sarili ko,” she said.

“At ngayon binigyan naman nila ako ng recognition bilang best actress para sa ‘Babae sa Septic Tank’ for their 10th year. I won’t miss it for the world.”

Thelma' nominated at Madrid Int'l Film Festival!

After bagging the Digital Film of the Year award at the 28th PMPC Star Awards for Movies, Star Cinema's "Thelma" has been nominated at the 2012 Madrid International Film Festival, which will be held this June.

"Thelma," topbilled by Maja Salvador, was nominated in the Best Feature Film and Best Cinematography categories of the festival, which aims to recognize newcomers in the industry.

Directed by Paul Soriano, "Thelma" is a film based on the lives of Filipino runners. It was shown in theaters nationwide last September.

Jessica Sanchez now part of 'Idol' Top 10!

Filipino-Mexican Jessica Sanchez survived the second elimination round of "American Idol Season 11" even after failing to impress the show's judges.

On Thursday (Friday morning in Manila), "American Idol" announced that Sanchez is now one of the top 10 finalists who will be part of the show's Season 11 tour.

Other finalists include Joshua Ledet, Philip Phillips, Skylar Laine, Colton Dixon, Deandre Brackensick, Hollie Cavanagh, Heejun Han, Elise Testone and Erika Van Pelt.

Shannon Magrane was eliminated from the show.

On Wednesday (Thursday in Manila), Sanchez failed to impress the show's judges -- Randy Jackson, Steve Tyler and Jennifer Lopez -- with her rendition of Gloria Estefan's "Turn the Beat Around."

Both Jackson and Tyler advised Sanchez to be careful in choosing her songs.

"I don't think you should stray too far from that [ballads]," Tyler said. "The rhythm that you sang with the song was just a little shady. But again, I love your voice, and they do, too."

Sanchez, for her part, admitted that she had a hard time picking a song for this week.

"I'm actually glad that they gave me some [criticism] because I know I'm not perfect. I need that to step up my game. Hopefully if I'm here next week, I can do that, take their criticism and work on it," she said.

She also thanked Filipinos for their support.

"Thank you guys for all the support and love. I hope I can visit the Philippines one day. You guys are amazing!" Sanchez said. --

Jake Cuenca happy for Melissa Ricks and Paul Jake Castillo!

Actor Jake Cuenca said he is happy for his former girlfriend, Melissa Ricks, who is now dating another Jake -- former "Pinoy Big Brother" housemate Paul Jake Castillo.

"Okay na. Basta ako, I'm happy for the both of them. Kung anuman ang nangyayari sa kanilang dalawa, masayang-masaya ako para sa kanilang dalawa," Cuenca said in an interview during the 28th PMPC Star Awards for Movies on Wednesday.

"At gusto kong maging masaya na rin si Mel. Knowing that she's dating someone and [she's] happy, I'm good. At least I know that she's very happy and I'm happy for her," he added.

Cuenca, meanwhile, said that he is now concentrating on his career and is not searching for new love.

"I want a person that can understand that (his career as an actor) and I want to understand that person as well kung anuman ang trabaho niya. Bata pa naman ako," he explained.

Cuenca received his first acting award at the 28th PMPC Star Awards for Movies as he bagged the Best Supporting Actor trophy for his film "In the Name of Love."

"First acting award ko ito. It was always nominations. 'Yun nga ang sabi ko, these things happen to people who wait. And tonight is my night," he said. "Hindi mahirap maging single kapag may ganitong nangyayari sa buhay mo. For years, hindi ako nano-nominate and in my ninth year going to tenth year in showbiz, nano-nominate na ang mga ginagawa ko. And to win an award pa, ang laking bagay. So maraming, maraming salamat."

Currently, Cuenca is gearing up for his newest series with Shaina Magdayao, "Kung Ako'y Iiwan Mo."

Jose Manalo denies wife's allegations!

Comedian and television host Jose Manalo has categorically denied the allegations of his wife, Anna Lyn, that he has an extra-marital affair.

An official statement released on Tuesday said Manalo “shall address the same at the proper forum at the appropriate time. “

The statement said Manalo is “saddened by Anna Lyn's decision to resort to media interviews” because it “shall compromise their efforts at a mutually-acceptable resolution of their differences and, more importantly, shall not be in the best interests of their children.”

Manalo also maintained that he continues to provide for his children, contrary to allegations of neglect and financial support.

Anna Lyn has filed a complaint against her husband at the Office of the City Prosecutor in San Juan on February 27, before appearing on “The Buzz.”

In her complaint affidavit, Anna Lyn alleged that she and her children have suffered from verbal and emotional abuse.

The couple have five children, while Jose has two more children from a second marriage. Anna Lyn said all seven children are now with her.

Anna Lyn said the verbal abuse and insults started in the second half of 2011 amid rumors that Jose was having a "sexual relationship" with a member of popular dance group.

Ann Lyn also claimed that Manalo's tirades against her were committed even in the presence of their children.

The Office of the City Prosecutor in San Juan has set the preliminary investigation on the complaint on March 14 and March 21.

Below is the full statement of Manalo:

Jose is currently encountering difficult challenges in his relationship with Anna Lyn. He is, thus, deeply saddened by Anna Lyn's decision to resort to media interviews when she is fully aware that such decision shall compromise their efforts at a mutually-acceptable resolution of their differences and, more importantly, shall not be in the best interests of their children.

Jose has received a copy of Anna Lyn's Complaint-Affidavit for violation of Republic Act No. 9262 and has referred the same to his lawyers for proper action. He has been advised by his lawyers to refrain from commenting thereon in the meantime. Jose has not been advised of any other action filed by Anna Lyn against him.

Jose categorically denies Anna Lyn's unfounded statements regarding an alleged extra-marital affair and shall address the same at the proper forum at the appropriate time.

Jose likewise categorically denies any allegation of neglect, financial or otherwise, as regards his children with Anna Lyn, the truth being that he is providing, and will continue to provide his children, such support to the best of his ability.

At present, Jose, in loving consideration of Anna Lyn and their children, is exerting his best efforts to refrain from resorting to any legal action against Anna Lyn in connection with various incidents involving him and other acts where even his own parents were offended and prejudiced by Anna Lyn. As the matter ultimately involves his family, Jose requests the media to allow him and Anna Lyn some measure of privacy in order that they may be able to resolve the same out of the public eye.

Jessy Mendiola gears for new soap with Andi Eigenmann!

 After the success of her series "Budoy" with Gerald Anderson, young actress Jessy Mendiola is now preparing for her new television series with Andi Eigenmann with the working title "Ina, Anak at Kapatid."

"Actually dapat hindi pa nga pwedeng sabihin 'yon kasi confidential pero ewan ko bakit nila nabanggit. Hindi pa sure lahat pati 'yung story namin, wala pang story conference at wala pang script. Yung casting ang sure pa lang ay ako at si Andi," says Mendiola in an interview on Tuesday during a press conference for Star Magic's 20th anniversary.

"Sa pagkakaalam ko parang ang peg nila ay 'Gossip Girl,' para kaming dalawang sisters na nag-aaway. So, yun pa lang ang masasabi ko," the actress said.

Mendiola added that she's excited to work with Eigenmann, whom she has known even before Eigenmann did the hit show "Agua Bendita."

"Si Andi and I bago pa siya nag-Agua Bendita close na kami ni Andi. Sabay kaming pumupunta sa rehersals sa workshops. I can say na kilala ko talaga si Andi bago pa siya nagka-baby," she said.

Mendiola also revealed that she will also be reunited with Enchong Dee in the new TV project.

Dolphy doesn't want us sad.

Jenny Salimao, the wife of Vandolph Quizon, promised her husband to be always there to give him the necessary morale boost, especially now that her father-in-law, King of Comedy Dolphy, is not in the best of health.

In an interview with morning show KrisTV, Salimao, who was accompanied by Vandolph, said she's the one who keeps on reminding Vandolph to be calm and be strong.

"Kasi pareho kami (ni Vandolph) mahal na mahal namin si Papa. So, ako 'yung tipo ng tao na nagpapalakas sa kanya (kay Vandolph). Kung makikita niya (Dolphy) tayong nalulungkot, hindi siya matutuwa. Sabi ko kailangan tayo ang nagpapakita sa kanya na okay lahat, masaya tayo," Salimao said.

In a previous interview, Vandolph said Dolphy is now at home and is getting better.

ABS-CBN finds meaning in inspiring Filipinos through shows that reflect the media conglomerate’s values that affirm the viewers’ self-worth and recognize their strengths.

This was the key message that ABS-CBN chairman and CEO Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III imparted to the participants of this year’s Pinoy Media Congress (PMC) held recently at Colegio De San Juan De Letran, Manila. The event had the Kapamilya network hosting about 1,000 mass communication and journalism students from all over the country.

“The fulfillment that you experience by doing something that has a positive impact on the lives of people is a more lasting reward than the glamour and the pay,” Lopez said.

Lopez told the future media practitioners that media can bring about change by communicating the right values, advocacies as well as fair and honest information. He said there’s still a lot of work to be done to make the Philippines a better place and that work awaits young people who will be joining the media industry soon.

While her newest movie has yet to be finalized, Locsin said that for her next project she hopes to work with mestiza actresses Bea Alonzo and Angelica Panganiban.

After her back-to-back hit starrers with love team John Lloyd Cruz in action series “Imortal” and romantic-comedy film “Unofficially Yours,” Locsin is now open to working with other established stars of her generation.

“Kung sino nakatrabaho ko before okay sana para may connection na, mas comfortable,” she said in an interview with ABS-CBN News. “[Pero] gusto ko makatrabaho si Bea (Alonzo), si Anne (Curtis), Angelica (Panganiban). Sana magkaroon kami ng project together, kaming apat.”

On working with new leading men, Locsin named “Walang Hanggan” star Coco Martin and “Dahil sa Pag-Ibig” leading man Jericho Rosales. She said she is still open to working with former co-actors Piolo Pascual and Diether Ocampo.

Locsin had previously worked with Pascual in supernatural action series “Lobo,” and with Ocampo in romantic drama series “Only You.” Between the two, the young actress said she would like to return to primetime television via a “teleserye” more similar to “Lobo.”

“Na-miss ko gumawa ng action. Alam mo naman ako, medyo actually naiilang nga ako kapag nilalagay ako sa drama, hindi ako sanay, naninibago pa ako, pero gusto ko sana talaga action ang concept,” she said.

For Locsin, however, choosing roles to portray is ultimately about being able to do justice to the character.

Angeline Quinto eyes 'dream' duet with Regine Velasquez!

After a year since emerging champ from ABS-CBN singing contest “Star Power,” Angeline Quinto is excited for her upcoming second album, where she is set to collaborate with Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez.

Quinto has been vocal about her admiration for Velasquez, and now the pop singer revealed that a duet with Mrs. Alcasid – and Ogie Alcasid himself – is indeed in the works for her sophomore album.

“Pinaplano palang po, sana po mapasama doon sa second album ko ‘yung duet po namin ni Ms. Regine atsaka po ni Sir Ogie,” Quinto said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

The separate duet tracks with the Alcasids are expected to beef up Quinto’s second Star Records offering with more songs compared to her first.

“Excited na nga po akong mailabas ‘yung second album ko kasi halos mag-iisang taon na rin po ‘yung first album ko po na ‘Patuloy ang Pangarap,’" she said.

“Kaya sana nga po abangan ng mga Kapamilya natin ‘yung second album ko kasi mas marami na po ‘yung kanta na ilalagay namin dito, tsaka halos lahat po ‘yung mga theme songs na kinanta ko po sa mga teleserye ng ABS-CBN. Mayroon [rin] naman pong mga original songs dito.”

Before the full release of her next album, Quinto will be busy with guest concert performances here and abroad. Notably, she will be performing with international singer Brian McKnight at the Araneta Coliseum on March 16.

Now with a next album already in the pipeline, Quinto said she hopes to hold her own concert at the Big Dome soon.

Ang bilis nang pagsikat ni Julia Montes. Akalain mo, bukod sa nakilala agad siya, nakabili na siya ng bahay at lupa sa may area ng Antipolo, sa isang exclusive subdivision. Nauna na siyang nakabili ng bagong sasakyan. At nangyari ’yan sa loob lang ng more than one year.

At naka-schedule na ang house warming na isasabay sa kanyang birthday sa March 19.

“Lahat naman po sila invited, lahat ng mga kasamahan ko sa Star Magic,” safe na sagot ni Julia na hindi naisip na magiging ganito kabilis ang arangkada ng career niya after niyang mag-Mara Clara.

Pangarap lang dati niya ang maging artista. Pero sinuwerte siya dahil sinugalan siya at si Kathryn Bernardo ng ABS-CBN sa Mara Clara. Ngayon mas maingay na ang pangalan niya kesa kay Kathryn. “Siguro lang kasi po lumalabas na ang Walang Hanggan kaya mas maingay ang pangalan ko. Pero may ginagawa siya ngayon na once na ipalabas, mas iingay siya,” paliwanag ni Julia.

“Mara Clara was my first big break. After ng Goin’ Bulilit puro gues-tings lang ako noon, and I thought hard kung para sa akin ba talaga ang show business. And then the show came - for me and kay Kathryn. Tapos lahat nagbago na. Minsan hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala na nangyari ‘yun sa akin,” pagkukuwento ni Julia.

At ngayon, na-realize niya na ang pagiging actress ang kanyang calling - “Dati kasi work lang talaga ang tingin ko nung bata pa ako. Pero ngayon na-realize ko na ito ang passion ko. Gusto ko na ‘yung na-e-express ko ang sarili ko sa pag-arte, ‘yung naiintindihan ko na ‘yung pinagdadaanan ng iba through my roles,” sabi niya tungkol sa kanyang career.

Kung sabagay, kung acting ang pag-uusapan, hindi siya nagpapa-iwan sa mga kasama niya sa Walang Hanggan na pawang mga de-kalibreng artista: Coco Martin, Dawn Zulueta, Richard Gomez, Helen Gamboa and Susan Roces.


Ginagampanan niya ang character na mas matanda sa kanyang edad ngayon .

Bukod sa TV, sumabak na rin siya sa pelikula –Way Back Home at ngayon ay nagso-shooting siya para sa summer movie ng Star Cinemana The Reunion opposite Enrique Gil, Jessy Mendiola and Enchong Dee.

Kasama rin siya sa Star Magic 20th Anniversary US Tour sa Hawaii Waikiki sa March 30.

Sure na ang participation ni Ipe sa coming soon TV series ni Richard Gutierrez dahil sumipot siya sa story conference na ginanap noong Miyerkules sa 17th floor ng GMA Network Center.

Julia Montes denies competition with Kathryn Bernardo!

Young actress Julia Montes made it clear that there is no competition between her and former "Mara Clara" co-star Kathryn Bernardo.

In an interview during a Star Magic press conference on Thursday afternoon, Montes said their friendship is strong enough to withstand rumors.

"Nalulungkot [ako] kasi iba 'yung dating sa tao, parang nauunahan ko si Kathryn. Pero hindi kasi malaking proyekto, 'yung ginagawa niya ngayon," Montes said, referring to Bernardo's upcoming show, "The Princess and I."

"Nasa Bhutan sila and excited ako para sa kanya kasi pagkatapos nun makikita niyo 'yung ibang side niya rin. Princess siya doon.

"Walang inggitan. Friendly competition siguro in a way na nagbabantayan kami. Minsan ina-ate niya ako na, 'Ate, mas okay 'pag ginawa mo 'yung ganito, ganyan.' May ganun kami, bantayan ng role, 'yung ginagawa namin sa scene, 'yung ganun, tulungan," she added.

Montes said that she and Bernardo already prepared themselves from intrigues that may come their way even before they did the remake of 1992 ABS-CBN hit series "Mara Clara."

"Bago kami pumasok sa showbiz, alam na rin namin 'yung takbo dahil sa 'Goin Bulilit' alam na namin 'yung pagkakaiba ng normal relationship sa showbiz friendships. Alam namin kung saan kami doon," she explained.

Montes said that even if they are now doing their respective projects, they are still in touch.

"Minsan may 'miss factor' talaga kami. May ugali kasi kami sa set na pagkatapos magsha-shower kami, wala na kaming ganoon ngayon. Siyempre iba talaga 'yung bonding namin. Biglaan lang 'yung yayaan. Minsan dinner sa bahay nila or sa bahay namin, or sa labas. Pero 'yun nga, hindi naman kasi nawawala 'yung closeness. Hindi lang siguro madalas [magkita]," she said.

The young actress added that she considers Bernardo as her sister.

"Para nga kaming twins eh. Para talaga kaming may sisterhood. Ganun na kami ka-close. Hindi niyo lang kami nakikita together pero she's really like a sister to me. Siguro nakakatulong din 'yung I'm one year older than her," she said.

On Enchong

Meanwhile, Montes addressed rumors linking her to actor Enchong Dee.

The young actress, who will turn 17 on March 19, maintained that she is too young to enter into a romantic relationship.

"Kasi, bata pa po talaga ako. Seventeen pa lang po ako at ayaw ko naman suwayin 'yung lola ko. Okay nga naman 'yung work ko ngayon at nae-enjoy ko. Ayaw kong ma-distract. Alam mo naman 'pag love," she said.

"Personal choice ko rin na hindi pa ma-in love kasi alam ko 'yung responsibilidad ko sa family ko. At ayaw ko ngang ma-divide 'yung attention ko dahil lang sa pag-ibig," she added.

Asked if Dee has a chance of winning her heart, Montes replied: "Sa ngayon, hindi ko pa masagot, kasi nandoon pa siya sa test. Tignan natin, sabi niya makakapaghintay naman daw siya. Tignan natin."

She added that she might be open to having a relationship by the time she turns 20.

Iya Villania wants to go back to singing!

If given an opportunity, actress-host Iya Villania would like to go back to what she considers her first love -- singing.

"Singing is something that I still want to pursue. That has always been my first love. I guess when the time is right, when I'm willing to get back and given the time again," Villania told ABS-CBNnews.com during a press conference for her newest endorsement, Bioessence.

Villania, whose favorite singers include Beyonce, Janet Jackson and the late Whitney Houston, said she is open to doing a wide selection of music.

"I enjoy singing a wide selection, from pop to pop-rock, to RnB to ballad," she said.

Villania recorded her album "Finally" in 2009. She hopes to have a new album and to produce her own CD if given a chance.

"Actually I'm considering. If that's what it takes to make that dream come true, then [why not]?" she said.

Currently, Villania is part of ABS-CBN morning show "Umagang Kay Ganda" and variety show "ASAP."

Noli de Castro at Ted Failon hindi natiis ang TV Patrol!

Ang TV Patrol ay sinimulan nina Kabayan Noli de Castro, Mel Tiangco, Robert Arevalo withAngelique Lazo as segment host ng Star News portion in March 1987. Ang yumaong si Ernie Baronnaman ang nag-provide noon ng weather forecast.

Two months later, si Robert ay pinalitan ng yumaong veteran TV and radio broadcaster na si Frankie Evangelista.

In 1995, pumasok si Ted Failon bilang kapalit ni Ka Frankie and two years later, pumasok naman siKorina Sanchez bilang kapalit ni Mel na lumipat naman ng GMA 7.

Nang mawala si Angelique sa programa, siya’y pinalitan ni Tintin Bersola-Babao. In 2001, parehong nawala sa TV Patrol sina Ka­bayan Noli at Ted na kapwa pumasok sa pulitika – si Kabayan sa pagka-senador at si Ted naman sa pagka-kongresista (representing 1st district of Leyte) at kapwa nanalo. Si Kabayan ay tumuloy sa pagka-pangalawang pangulo at si Ted naman ay bumalik sa TV and radiobroadcast after one term sa pagka-kongresista.

Nang matapos naman ang six-year term ni Kabayan Noli sa pagka-vice president, binalikan din nito ang kanyang unang pag-ibig, ang radio ang TV broadcast, binalikan niya ang kanyang radio program saDZMM at ang TV Patrol.

Sa loob ng 25 years, maraming mga pagbabago ang TV Patrol na naging bahagi na ng bawat Filipino tuwing sumasapit ang ika-6:30 ng gabi.

Ngayong taon, 25 na estudyante naman mula sa Cagayan de Oro at 25 mula sa Iligan ang matutulungan ng fun run. Mapupunta rin ang ilang bahagi ng pondo sa pagpapatuloy ng pag-aaral ng mga napiling iskolar noong nakaraang taon.

Sinimulan ng DZMM ang ganitong klaseng programa noong 1999 nang ilun­sad nito ang DZMM Takbo para sa Kalikasan. Ang taunang takbong ito, na isinagawa hanggang 2010, ay nakapaglikom ng pondo para sa mga proyektong pangkalikasan katulad ng rehabilitasyon ng La Mesa watershed at Pasig Rehabilitation Project sa pakikipagtulu­ngan ng Bantay Kalikasan ng ABS-CBN Foundation.

Confirmed na hindi lalayas sa GMA 7 si Carla Abellana. Ngayong araw siya naka-schedule pumir­ma ng renewal ng kontrata sa Kapuso Network.

Matagal pinag-usapan ang tungkol sa umano’y paglayas niya sa ‘nagpalaki’ sa kanyang network dahil may offer daw ang ABS-CBN na agad namang itinanggi ng ilang taga-Kapamilya Network. Wala raw silang offer kay Carla. Kaya pinagdudahan siya na gumigimik lang para magpa-increase ng talent fee sa GMA 7.

Pero ngayong hapon, wala nang makakapigil, magre-renew na siya ng kontrata.

Toni Gonzaga confirms talks for ‘Amnesia Girl’ sequel!

Actress-singer Toni Gonzaga said early talks for a sequel to “My Amnesia Girl” are already underway.

“My Amnesia Girl,” which was the highest grossing local film in 2010, saw the first team-up of Gonzaga and award-wining actor John Lloyd Cruz. The film was directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

The ending of film saw Apollo (Cruz) losing his memories after a car accident, a twist of fate that had their roles reversed after Irene (Gonzaga) pretended to have amnesia to avoid an confrontation with Cruz, her ex-fiancee.

Gonzaga said a sequel to the mega-hit film is now preliminary discussions.

“Pinaguusapan na nila ‘yun ngayon, pero depende nga 'yan sa schedule naming dalawa (Cruz), sa istorya, sa availability, so ano ‘yan, mapag-uusapan ‘yan,” Gonzaga said in an interview with ABS-CBN News during the launch of her latest endorsement for Samsung. “Eventually siguro pag ma-finalize, pwede na naming i-share.”

New film

While the “Amnesia” sequel is still in the planning satges, Gonzaga said another film project is much closer to hitting the production phase. But she chose to remain silent on the details prior to its formal announcement.

“Next month ata magsa-start kami mag-shoot . ‘Di ko pa alam kung pwede ko i-announce eh. Basta next month or next, next month kami magsa-start na magshoot,” she said.

“’Di ko rin pwede yata sabihin kung sino 'yung makakasama. Malalaman nila [kung sino ‘yung leading man], malapit na, basta ‘pag nag-start, kasi syempre sa ngayon pwede ko naman i-announce, pero baka ma-hold, ‘di matuloy, so basta ‘pag nag-start na ‘yung story conference and everything.”

‘Box office’ issues

Gonzaga has likewise chosen to keep mum on her real-life role as girlfriend to film director Paul Soriano, especially on issues and controversies thrown at them about their relationship.

“Tahimik [ang relationship namin]. Wala na talagang mai-tatanong. Tahimik eh, steady lang talaga, walang anumalya, walang issue, walang kontrobersiya,” she said.

“Ginagawan minsan ng intriga pero hindi buma-box office hit ang issue eh. So pantay pa rin, normal. Minsan may mga issue talaga na dadaanan mo nalang, hindi mo na papansinin lalo na pag alam mo naman na hindi siya totoo,” she added.

‘Wansapanataym’

A current involvement Gonzaga had no reservations discussing, however, is her special part in fantasy-drama anthology “Wansapanataym,” where she will play different roles through the month of March.

“Meron akong month-long [series] this March sa 'Wansapanataym.' It’s every Saturday. I’m also looking forward to that because it’s good to do something na magi-impart ng good values and principles sa mga bata,” she said.
